Activision Takes a Stand After Troubling Anti-LGBTQ+ Incident

More Bud Light-related  (BUDFF)  controversy has trickled into a major brand, but this time the company has taken a proactive move against Pride backlash.

Activision  (ATVI) - Get Free Report, the huge video game creator responsible for games such as the Call of Duty franchise, took down in-game material related to NICKMERCS, a popular online streamer part of the huge esports group FaZe Clan, on Thursday, June 8.

This was due to NICKMERCS’ response to famous esports broadcaster Puckett’s quote tweet of brawl in California between anti-LGBT and pro-LGBT groups at a schoolboard meeting in California.

“Let people love who they love and live your own life,” Puckett tweeted, to which NICKMERCS responded, “They should leave little children alone. That’s the real issue.”

Activision tweeted a day later that it “removed the ‘NICKMERCS Operator’ bundle from the Modern Warfare II and Warzone store.”

“We are focused on celebrating PRIDE with our employees and our community,” the tweet read.

NICKMERCS went on his twitch stream on Thursday and responded to the criticism, saying that as a father, he was against the brawling happening in school.

“It’s not that I think that it shouldn’t be spoken about,” NICKMERCS said. “[My wife] and I agree that we want to be the ones to talk to our kid about things like that.”

The streamer said he doesn’t apologize for his tweet because he still believes in it and doesn’t “feel like it’s wrong.” He ultimately did apologize send one apologize -- to Puckett --

“I do want to apologize to Puckett though. I feel like I may have brought some shit his way. I didn’t mean to do that,” NICKMERCS said.
