Israeli army unveils footage it says shows hostages at Gaza hospital

The Israeli military published security camera footage of hostages being transported into Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City on October 7 after being captured during Hamas assaults on southern Israel on Sunday.

The army has often claimed that Hamas utilises Al-Shifa hospital as a base, an allegation that the military has been pressed to back up.

Militants and medical personnel have both disputed that a command centre exists beneath the hospital.

'Pure lie': Hamas dismisses Israel's claim of finding tunnel below Al-Shifa hospital

Hamas called Israel's announcement of the discovery of a tunnel beneath the Al-Shifa hospital a "pure lie."

Gaza's health ministry director, Mounir El Barsh, said Al Jazeera television that Israeli soldiers had been in the facility for eight days and "hadn't found anything."

The IDF film made no indication of what may be beyond the tunnel's blast-proof entrance. The location was reached via a shaft unearthed in a shed on the Al-Shifa complex.

Israel says soldier executed, foreign hostages held at Gaza's Shifa hospital

On Sunday, Israel escalated its charges of Hamas atrocities at the Gaza Strip's main hospital, alleging a prisoner soldier had been killed and two international captives were being kept at a place that has been a focal point of its catastrophic six-week-long war.

Al Shifa Hospital, which formerly housed tens of thousands of Palestinian war refugees, has begun evacuating patients and staff since Israeli commandos stormed in last week on what they termed a mission to find covert Hamas operations.

Israel is also looking for 240 persons who Hamas abducted to Gaza during the October 7 cross-border attack that triggered the war.

According to health officials, 31 premature babies in "extremely critical condition" were safely transferred from Gaza's main hospital to Egypt on Sunday, while over 250 patients with severely infected wounds and other urgent conditions remained stranded days after Israeli forces entered the compound to look for Hamas operations.

Yemen's Houthi rebels hijack Israeli-linked ship in the Red Sea and take 25 crew members hostage

Yemen's Houthi rebels captured an Israeli-linked cargo ship in a critical Red Sea commercial route Sunday and kidnapped its 25 crew members, authorities said, increasing worries that regional tensions heightened by the Israel-Hamas conflict were spilling over into the sea.

The Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, said they hijacked the ship because of its ties to Israel and would continue to attack ships in international seas affiliated to or controlled by Israelis until Israel's assault against Gaza's Hamas rulers ended.
