Mohammed Shami has been India’s best pacer in the World Cup 2023 and ahead of the final against Australia in Ahmedabad, the district administration in Amroha (Shami’s hometown), Uttar Pradesh, has proposed the construction of a mini-stadium and the establishment of a gymnasium in the ancestral village of India’s prominent fast-bowler. This decision comes after Shami’s outstanding performance in the ongoing men’s ODI World Cup 2023. Rajesh Tyagi (IAS), the District Magistrate of Amroha, said that they are planning to submit a proposal for the construction of a mini-stadium and an open gymnasium in Shami’s village, which has ample available land.

District Magistrate of Amroha, Rajesh Tyagi (IAS), said, “We have been sending a proposal to construct a mini stadium in the village of Mohammed Shami. In that proposal, there will also be an open gymnasium. We have sufficient land there (in the village of Shami).

The Uttar Pradesh government has instructed the construction of 20 stadiums across the state. Under this, Amroha’s stadium has been selected for this initiative. On a recent visit to Shami’s village, a team led by DM Tyagi has already identified suitable land for the proposed mini-stadium and gymnasium. Mohammed Shami, it needs to be noted, hails from Sahaspur Alinagar village in the Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh.

India’s pace bowler, Mohammed Shami, has become one of the key performers for the India as he leads the Indian bowling attack in the ongoing Cricket World Cup. He has picked up an impressive tally of 23 wickets from just six matches in the tournament. Shami currently holds the position of the highest wicket-taker in the competition.

Interestingly, Shami was not included in the preferred playing XI for the Indian team leading up to the World Cup 2023. The team initially favoured the combination of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and two fast bowling all-rounders in Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur. However, Shami entered the playing XI once Hardik Pandya was ruled out of the World Cup with an injury.

India will take on Australia in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19. India, unbeaten in 10 matches so far, will clash with 5-time champions Australia.
